Answering your FAQs
Learn about our campaign and how you can help change the future of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research by DOUBLING your impact by 30 June.
Where does my money go?
Funds raised through this campaign will support vital type 1 diabetes research, including advancing promising breakthroughs like islet transplantation. Ultimately, your gift will help turn type 1 into type none.
How are donations being matched?
We’ve been lucky enough to partner with Funraisin, a platform that allows gift-matching for non-profits like us. Every time a member of the public makes a donation at appeal.BreakthroughT1D.org.au, our pool of generous corporate partners and philanthropists will contribute that exact amount, in effect doubling the original donation amount. This will last until 30 June, or until the matching pool has been exhausted.
Who are the donation matchers?
Corporate organisations and high-profile Breakthrough T1D supporters make up the majority of the donation matchers. See the list at appeal.BreakthroughT1D.org.au.
What amount of my donation is tax-deductible?
All gifts over $2 are tax-deductible. Your original donation amount, before matching, will be visible in a tax-deductible receipt and emailed to you once it has been confirmed.
Will you have a Giving Day this year?
We’re doing things a little differently in 2025. Instead of only having one day to double your impact, you now have the chance to have your donations matched until 30 June (or until the matching pool is exhausted). It’s all thanks to our generous matching pool partners who wanted to make an even bigger contribution to vital T1D research this financial year, allowing our community members to give at a time that suits them best.
We also run matched giving days during campaigns like One Walk, so keep an eye out throughout the year!
Can community fundraising efforts (for example a Bunnings BBQ or raffle) be doubled?
Our annual tax-time appeal focusses on tax-deductible donations, so funds raised from community fundraising activities can’t be doubled. The platform is specifically designed for personal donations, which are tax-deductible, whereas funds from fundraising activities are not.
What should I do with the funds raised through community fundraising?
If you’ve raised funds through community fundraising, thank you! To donate them to Breakthrough T1D, please visit the Blue Army website or contact Breakthrough T1D donor services by emailing info@BreakthroughT1D.org.au.
